A Trafficking Free Zone is a geographical area, a business, a community, or a defined space that has publicly declared itself to keep Traffickers away through policy changes, public awareness, employee & volunteer training, and continued engagement. By reducing consumer demand and making it harder for sex to be solicited in these "zones," traffickers will no longer profit and inevitably cease to sell humans for sex.

An important factor in creating successful Trafficking Free Zones is by educating individuals to grasp how human trafficking actually occurs and how to respond should they become aware of suspicious activity. Furthermore, education helps change preconceived mindsets as it pertains to solicited sex, particularly in understanding how victimization occurs and how these victims were first groomed by traffickers (usually as children). The more we empower individuals to be aware and hold community leaders responsible for enacting policy changes that protect children, prosecute offenders, and educate the public, the closer we get to ending sex trafficking in the United States.

Studies have shown that we cannot "arrest" our way out of the problem of human trafficking, HOWEVER, we still need Law Enforcement to not only respond, perform sting operations, and protect potential victims of sex trafficking, they need to also be trained to effectively know how they can maximize their efforts.
The USIAHT has created a Law Enforcement Certification Program which provides law enforcement members and their partners with information so that they can effectively identify and respond to crimes of human trafficking. The training is centered on the premise of increasing the identification of victims of human trafficking and upon increasing the arrests of pimps/traffickers and sex buyers who are illegally purchasing services from sex-trafficked victims.
With the ever-changing landscape of human trafficking, this series provides information for law enforcement members on cyber trafficking, digital platforms, social media and online sex trafficking grooming tactics.
We know that the internet is saturated with opportunities to engage in sex-related entertainment. What is not common knowledge is that there are ALSO millions of online advertisements that sell women, men, and children for sex.
The USIAHT has partnered with other organizations to strategically target potential buyers with fake online sex ads to try and interrupt (and ultimately prevent) them from purchasing a human being for sex.
The technology that we use sends a private message that tries to convince them to stop but also gives a link to our "Get Help" page that connects them to resources to help them heal from sex & porn addictions, guard against impulses to purchase solicited sex, and to find a second chance if they have already been found guilty.

Most victims of human trafficking are hidden away, proving it difficult to reach them with resources and assistance. Unlike Hollywood films, most vicitms are not locked in a room with no way to escape; rather, they are enslaved by manipulation, forced substance abuse, blackmail, and emotional coercion.
The USIAHT has launched Project: Reach Out--a program that uses A.I. technology to crawl websites for phone numbers posted on these ads that are often direct lines to the victim’s cell phones.
After attaining phone numbers, we send out texts to these victims asking if they need help.
Our goal is to help connect them to the right resources to victims escape and recover from their experiences.
